Segment 6
I know, what has Iraq and the War on Terror have to do with social activism? I mean, why am I bringing it up on a program about trying to improve society through social activism?
It's a good question, but it's kind of hard me to explain, if you are a Liberal. As near as I can tell, Liberals believe that Osama bin Laden is akin to a weirdo that comes by every few years and breaks a window in your house. Why in the world do we on the Right worry about a guy who cannot really do that much damage? So why are we so upset? It looks like to the Left that all the U.S. has to do is sit the weirdo down, work out a deal and he'll go away and stop breaking our windows. Or in the worst case scenario, we need to accept that we deserve to have a window broken every once in a while. It's really not worth the trouble to spend much time on a guy like that.
After all, the thinking goes, there's only a couple of hundred thousand of terrorists in the whole world. How can they really affect anything? We here in the United States could use all that money spent on the so-called War on Terror to help people right here in this country.
The problem with that approach is that the jihadis REALLY want to kill our civilization and replace it with a civilization based on Shariah. If they can get a nation state like Iran or Syria to give them safe haven, then they can come up with nuclear or biological weapons to destroy the West. It only takes one nuclear bomb to ruin your whole week. The best guess is that a nuclear bomb going off in most cities of the U.S. would cost the economy a trillion dollars, not to mention the gazillion lives lost. No one on the Left seems to believe that the terrorists can do the deed OR they feel that the terrorists would be justified in setting off such a device.
I don't believe that there can be social activism in this country without fighting the jihadis at the same time. By my standards, both fights are about human rights. The problem with the Left as far as I can see is that the Left is unable to believe that freedom overseas translates to freedom in this country. Yet, if we ignore the jihadis, sooner or later... Ah, forget it. If you cannot see the point, then my talk is useless. I refuse to continue in this vein.
I will end this segment with this truth. Homeland Security has an office at Texas A&M. I have heard talks from members of the group. They have scenarios where the terrors CAN wipe out our civilization. They are convinced that the terrorists WANT to wipe out our civilization. Are you willing to let someone who wants to do such evil give it a shot? If you say to me that you are willing to take the risk, I have got to doubt your sanity.
