Too many Liberals and isolationist Conservatives in this country refuse to acknowledge that we are in a fifty years war. This is very similar to the Cold War. Just as in the Cold War, right up until 1988, people on the Left said that the Soviet Union would never be defeated. The Berlin Wall fell in 1989. Suddenly everyone on the Left said that the collapse of the Soviet Union was inevitable.
We cannot expect to defeat radical Islam by killing them all. That's a stupid idea. We have to have the ability to make their ideas seem stupid. Right now no one has asked what the Caliphate would look like once it is up and running.
I wish someone would write that book. I mean, I wish someone would produce the equivalent of Mein Kempf. Yeah, there I go again, I'm tarring these poor benighted Arabs with the brush of Hitler's evil. Yet, there are similarities.
Were someone able to produce a realistic view of the new Caliphate, I believe that it would serve everyone's purpose. Our side could see what they plan to do and their side could decide whether they wanted to fight for the new Caliphate.
Oh, I forgot, most of you never heard of Mein Kempf. Hitler wrote a book outlining what the Nazis planned to do once they were in power. By and large, they followed the book. Everyone who read Mein Kempf who was not a Nazi assumed he was lying, like most politicians.
Why I keep comparing radical Islam to Nazism and Hitler is because they do have similarities. I listened to one guy on KEOS say that Saddam Hussein wasn't Hitler. Saddam Hussein killed about 300000 adults during his rule. The Left has said that 500000 babies died between 1992 and 2003 due to the embargo. We now know that Saddam was shorting his people, so those deaths logically should be laid at his feet. Is there a difference between killing 800000 of your people and killing 11 million people like Hitler? I don't see much of a difference.
Anyway. As near as I can tell, the caliphate would be a hell hole by our standards.
The religious police would be everywhere making sure women stayed in their place. No one is going to convince me that there wouldn't be a very strong religious police in the new Caliphate. Having a power center outside the control of anyone except Allah means that they could do pretty much whatever they wanted. How do you rein in power like that?
Rights for women would be severely restricted. Islam in almost all flavors assumes that women should be treated as children. Women are a cause of chaos in Islamic culture, so their freedoms have to be limited. I've got to point out that it wasn't that long ago that we here in the U.S. believed something like that. We have fought some heavy duty battles to free women from the restriction that Islam puts on its women. Would it be a good thing for the new Caliphate to restrict women as severely as they would be restricted?
Then there is the problem of corruption. When you speak with the voice of Allah, you cannot be constrained. The new caliph would be able to bind and let loose almost everything in the Caliphate. The secondary ministers in such an arrangement would be able to rake in some huge bucks by granting favors. Why shouldn't they? Who would restrain them? As the Romans said, "Who will guard the guards?" How do you restrain power near the Caliph when the Caliph speaks with the voice of Allah?
The corruption wouldn't stop there. Almost any description of the various incarnations of the old Caliphates have made the point that justice was for sale to the highest bidder. The judges in a new Caliphate would be imams. Are we to believe that all holy men are pure? After all the judges would speak with the voice of Allah. They could not be constrained. How do you cut down on just for sale? Don't know.
Of course slavery would come back. The new Caliphate would have to legalize slavery, because slavery allows a Moslem to spend LOTS of time drinking sweet tea and discussing the Koran all day with his friends. This is a very good thing according to radical Islam. To have a good life a Muslim would have to know the Koran. Slavery allows a Muslim to sluff off the mundane portions of life onto someone else so they can perfect their soul. There are all kinds of laws in the Koran and the Hadith that tell how a slave must be treated. Slavery under Islam is not as bad as the slavery experienced in the South. Would the coming of slavery be a good thing?
These and other things should be covered in a book about the coming of the new Caliphate. Right now the new Caliphate looks like a place where the head hackers are in control. Right now it looks like the rule of tooth and fang can over-rule the Koran in the new Caliphate. Where are the checks and balances in this new entity and who will have the job of implementing them? If the government speaks with the voice of Allah or purports to, how CAN it be checked?
